Fibonacci number
Discover the patterns of Fibonacci numbers in the golden spiral.
Φ, the Greek symbol for Phi, is referred to as the golden section. The geometric ratio of 0.618:1 or 1:1.618, is known as the golden mean. This golden ratio is derived from the Fibonacci number sequence in which each number is the sum the two preceding numbers.
- The Phi ratio is obtained by (1 + √ 5 ) / 2.
- The Fibonacci sequence is named after the Italian mathematician, Leonardo Fibonacci.
- Animal and plant populations grew in regular patterns, closely resembling to this sequence.
- The Fibonacci numbers are used as measurements for font sizes, text block placements and layouts because of their harmonious proportions.
